Version details
1.5 (09-Feb-2016)
- option to select audio-only output for Youtube. Check if you need only audio, this will save bandwidth (no video stream will be downloaded)
- option to select preferred audio quality in video. When selected 'Auto', an audio quality is being selected basing on video quality: for best video - best audio, for 1080p-3072p - nearest to 384kbps (i.e. still the best), 720p - 256kbps (almost always the best, exception - 5.1 audio), 360p-480p - 128kbps, 240p - 64kbps, 144p - 48kbps
- option to give precedence to the format over the quality. When two formats are being compared, 'Priority of formats' is used only after quality comparison. Thus it is used only when qualities of video and audio streams are equal. This is not the way that some people expect or would like it to work. So now such behavior can be changed using this option
- settings overriding via URL params. Certain settings now can be overridden by custom parameters in the clip URL. For details refer to new Developers tab on the site
- additional downloading method. While playing a media file, it is being downloaded to temporary directory independently of playback. Pros: you can pause and wait until will be downloaded enough data to play (for example if bandwidth is lower than bitrate of selected quality); filter also will not re-download previously downloaded data (at seeking backward). Cons: generally more bandwidth is used, because if you will close the clip somewhere in the middle of playback, it probably will be fully downloaded at this time anyway. In new version default behavior remains the same but it can be changed now by unchecking 'Downloading the clip' option in filter properties. In this case filter will cache only small part of data that need to be played right now. If compare with previous method, pros and cons are swapped here
- options formats to ignore and priority of formats are extended to cover audio stream in video. To mark audio as in-video stream, pretend it with '+' e.g. "+opus". Note, just "opus" means audio-only file, this would be used when audio-only output is turned on
- fps now also displayed if at analysis used only page info (using estimated values usually corresponding to appropriate itag's). Precision of fps determination at full analysis was extended
- fixed automatic audio quality selection in DASH streams combinations
- fixed filters registration issue on multi-user environment
- filter binary size has been reduced (removed unused parts of embedded FFmpeg)
